If your VAG Group vehicle has four wheel drive then the drive to the rear wheels is likely through a Haldex coupling (depending on your exact model). It will require regular oil and filter changes, just like your engine does.

The Haldex oil should be replaced every 20,000 miles and the filter replaced [or internal strainer removed and cleaned if no filter is fitted] every 40,000 miles.

The Haldex coupling is a very sophisticated piece of engineering that needs to be looked after with regular oil changes.

The coupling is a submerged multi-plate, wet clutch system that engages upon slip and transfers power to the rear final drive. The Haldex Coupling is a separate component from the Rear Final Drive, but is directly attached to it. The system is computer controlled with very fine engineering tolerances. If the Haldex oil is dirty, it will damage other parts and affect performance.

Dirty oil can overheat the coupling or cause the clutches to burn out or burn our the Haldex Pump and will lead to loss of rear drive and eventual failure.

The Haldex pump pre-charges the oil inside the Haldex assembly to allow the coupling to engage faster. This part is prone to failure on higher mileage cars or if regular maintenance in not performed. If your pump is faulty, you may experience loss of engine power to the rear wheels due to the pump becoming contaminated with old fluid and no longer activating.

Haldex Final Drive Differential – This  is the mechanical system which provides the drive to the two rear wheels. This uses a lubricating gear oil which according to the owner’s manual is a lifetime fluid. Many of our customers however choose to replace this oil between 50,000 and 75,000 miles as a matter of preventative maintenance.

    Yes we do, to almost anywhere in the world though remember the postage is often high when shipping anything bulky. Most bulky items we export will go by UPS so you can track the package online and could reach America within 48 hours providing its in stock !

    Why is postage on bulky items to some countries expensive compared to some other companies ?

    LFor both yours and our safety we use well known couriers such as DPD Local and UPS for shipping, then we know exactly where it is in the world at any time and we know its going to arrive safely. Shipping small items can be cheap, but items such as bodykits are expensive to ship - we have a very small margin on the postage fees merely to cover packaging. We can now ship using standard post on some items, however using all methods you may incur import charges when you receive the goods for which we cant be responsible for.

    Returns Procedure:

    - Before returning any goods please read all our terms and conditions. - Dark Road Performance must be informed by e-mail or telephone on 0044 (0) 7985319479 of any items that you wish to return for credit or exchange within 7 working days commencing the day of delivery. A member of staff will provide you with a Returns Notice Number. - Please also ensure that you include a copy of your invoice when shipping any items back to us as well as your Returns Notice Number. - If an item is sent back to us without a Returns Notice Number; a refund will not be given. - No parts that have been used, fitted or installed will be accepted for Credit or Refund. - Any parts returned must be in resalable condition. - We will not under any circumstances pay any VAT/Import Duties on Returns, If we are requested to do so your return will be rejected/abandoned.
